We have a passion for seeing communities raise up leaders who will be active and take the lead in projects promoting these transformational appropriate technologies. All of our Connect Africa Resource Centers are built to host teams of trainers and students, in comfort, with indoor toilets and showers, beds with mosquito nets, and abundant tasty foods.

 

Over these many years in East Africa, we have seen the "hardware intervention solution" like a Rainwater Harvest Tank or BioSand Filters in a village, only to see it fail because no one invested in the "software" — the building of the local people, to implement and maintain the project long term on the ground. By training people right in the villages at our local CARCs, using village level tools and hands-on problem solving techniques we have seen a much greater success rate in trained students successfully implementing projects.
